Names of God

We say God. Is that a name? He is God, but the Bible itself, as God’s revelation to us of himself and his work, presents us with several actual Names of God. What are they? What do they mean? How are they helpful?

Maybe you can recite the answer to question 4 of the Westminster Short Catechism- What is God? But the infinite, eternal and unchangeable God is beyond our ability to comprehend. That is why he shows us more of himself by revealing his Names.

In the adult Sunday School class, beginning this week, with some members of the Emmaus congregation, Pastor Malkus will begin exploring some of the well known and some lesser known Names of God. The hope is that knowing these Names of God will draw us closer to him in awe, in worship, in love and in devotion.
